I want to tell you about Jesus.

Now, I know… A lot of people have mixed feelings about Jesus. Some people love Jesus. Some people can’t stand him. Others don’t really understand him or get what the big deal is. A lot of people think they understand Jesus because of the things they have heard about him.

No matter what you’ve heard, I want you to know that Jesus is real and that he really does love you.

I know that might sound like a nice thought, or something too good to be true, but it’s true. Jesus really does love you. And once you truly understand who he is, that will change your entire life.

But first we need to understand who we are. Keep in mind I’m using the word “we” okay? So here’s the truth… We are bad people. Me and you. All of us.

The Bible says “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)

What this verse is saying is that every single person has made mistakes and done things that go against what is right—what God intended for us. No one is perfect.

Whether it’s lying, pride, selfishness, or hurting others, we all fall short of the standard of goodness that reflects God’s character. This verse isn’t about pointing fingers—it’s about leveling the playing field. It shows that no one is better than anyone else. We’re all in the same boat, in need of forgiveness and help beyond ourselves.

Now you might say… “But I am a good person… I mean I’ve definitely done bad things, but so has everyone. I am way more of a good person than a bad person…”

I totally get what you’re saying. Most people feel like they’re generally good—and compared to others, you might be. But it isn’t just about being better than others—it’s about how we all compare to God’s standard of perfect holiness. Even one sin—one lie, one selfish act—shows that we’ve fallen short in actually “being good.”

Now here’s another important thing…

The Bible also says, “The wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23)
